2022 Recreational Cheer Information
The Mudsock Youth Cheer recreational league is open to cheerleaders in grades K-6th grade. The cheer squads support the youth football league during the fall football season. The league is designed to teach fundamental cheer skills that participants can build on throughout their years in the youth cheer program.
Registration Fees
Open fall registration will be held the month of May 2022. After May 31st, a $10 late fee will be added. Registration will be accepted online at myathletics.com. The program fee for participants in kindergarten – 6th grade will be $95. There will be an additional uniform cost for those needing to purchase a new uniform. The cost is approximately $70, however there will be opportunities for uniform swaps among families. See uniform section.
Refund Policy For the fall 2022 season, the refund policy will be as follows:
May 1 – June 15th – Refund after $32 non-refundable fee
June 16th – July 15th – 50% refund after the $32 non-refundable fee
July 16th – July 31st – 25% refund after the $32 non-refundable fee
After July 31st – No refund
Season Overview
The cheer season runs from August through October. Participants selected to cheer as part of the All-Star Program will continue practice through early November. Please note that the cheer schedule is based on the football schedule. Information will be released once the football drafts are completed in July. Unfortunately, we do not make the football schedule so we cannot change the game times.
Practices/Games Practices take place once per week (Monday - Thursday) with most games occurring once per Saturday While most games are on Saturdays, there will be occasional weekday games in the evenings. We make every effort to make up rainout games. Practices are primarily at Cumberland Road Elementary, and games are at Mudsock Fields.
Uniforms
Please note, uniforms are NOT included with registration and will cost approximately $70. Uniforms can be reused or “swapped” with other participants. We will host several uniform fittings in June for participants to attend. We highly recommend attending one of the fittings because uniforms cannot be exchanged or returned easily. Families will order their own uniforms and spirit wear via a link that will be emailed to all participants. The deadline to order will be in the beginning of July. Thank you!
FAQs
Who do the squads cheer for?
Squads cheer for the Mudsock Youth Football 4th, 5th and 6th grade tackle teams. Please note, we DO NOT cheer for flag football teams.
Who are the coaches?
We rely on parent volunteers, like other Mudsock Youth Athletics leagues. Because of this, we ask that one or more parents/guardians, volunteer to coach/co-coach a squad. You DO NOT have to be experienced to coach a squad. The Cheer board gives all coaches the tools they need to help the participants be successful throughout the season.
Do you take requests?
You may add a request in the comments section of your online registration form at myathletics.com. Please note, we do not guarantee requests. The only requests that we can ensure are siblings and parent/guardians coaching (football/cheer). If we can honor any friend requests, it will be mandatory that one or more parents/guardian’s volunteer to coach/co-coach. Share the job! It’s more fun that way!
What if my participant is selected as an All-Star?
Coaches will select athletes to cheer for the Football All-Star Teams, which play in October and November. There is an additional charge to participate as an All-Star, approximately $45. All-Star tournaments will be chosen by the Football board. You are guaranteed one tournament, but your team could participate in two depending upon the football team and availability of the coaches.
